Making human connections is part of the Pangea.ai brand DNA; the soul of our brand being our tech partners. We are very proud to have Pseudocode as part of our community, whose unique individuals inspire and empower the rest of our teams.

Time to meet the Senior software developer at Pseudocode, Bruno!

What are your primary responsibilities and what does your day-to-day look like?

My primary responsibilities at Pseudocode are providing the clients with high-quality software development services.

More recently, I've moved to a technical leadership role, helping other colleagues in addition to doing hands-on development.

My day is a mix of technical planning, discussion with other colleagues (developers, managers, stakeholders), and writing the code for some of the many backend systems.

In your opinion, what are the hallmark traits of a great Software Developer?

The most obvious one is mastery and experience with various technologies used in day-to-day software development, as well as the ability to adapt and learn new technologies as they become prevalent in the field.

Knowledge of the domain that the software will operate on is also important, which can be very diverse as software has penetrated almost every part of society.

Only a small part of software development is done as a single-person effort, outside of the team - so the ability to cooperate with colleagues (both developers and non-developers) and work as a part of the team is crucial. At more senior levels, leading and mentoring other colleagues is a very desirable trait.

Finally, the ability to introspect and reflect on what is working well and what needs improvement in your role as a software developer will make quite a difference in the long run.

How did you first learn about Pseudocode?

I first learned about Pseudocode when the founders decided to found it - as I've been their friend and colleague in several companies we've worked at previously. A few years later there was a good opportunity for us to work together again, as my skills were a good match for what one of their new clients was looking for.

Do you have any hobbies, go-to weekend activities, or long-term passion projects you’re working on?

One of my hobbies is dancing Argentine Tango, which I've been involved with for more than a decade. Dancing well is a long-term endeavor, usually requiring a lot of effort, but it brings great satisfaction. It's also danced all around the world, which means you get instant friends and company wherever you find yourself.

I've also started teaching it after a few years of dancing - which can be a quite different experience from just dancing socially - but in some ways is even more fun.

What is the first concert you attended?

I don't remember the literal first concert I attended - it was probably some local band and show - but I do remember the first big international concert I went to. It was by The Cranberries, they played in Zagreb, Croatia just as I moved there to study computer science.

It's a brand I've been listening to throughout most of the high school, and it was such a memorable experience to be able to see them live. I still listen to their music often.

What is the best vacation you’ve been to?

The best vacation I've been on was a safari trip in Tanzania. We spent a week driving through their famous national parks, watching wild animals, and sleeping in (admittedly, pretty luxurious) tents. It was quite unlike anything I've experienced before, as someone who has spent my whole life in cities and who spends most of the days at a computer.
