Somewhat awkward life unpacking with Oleksii

Time to meet the Product Manager at Neurons Lab, Oleksii!

Why did you join Neuron Labs, and what has kept you here?

I originally joined to see if I could bring value to the company with my product management background in startups. And build a product discovery process for new clients.

I was excited to join to put my skills and knowledge to a test. But what keeps me here are the people. I love how the process is set up, and how open and helpful everyone is.

Do you have any hobbies, go-to weekend activities, or long-term passion projects you’re working on?

I love to refresh my mind with active and collaborative sports, like basketball.

On the weekend, I enjoy some alone time, taking care of my plants and going for a walk. I also enjoy visiting the gym for weight training. I try to spend at least 30 min a day practicing playing a musical instrument; I own a guitar and midi keyboard to choose from.

How do you balance your career at Neuron Labs and friends & family?

Work-life balance means something different to everyone, but to me, what is important is to let go of perfectionism; that was my main strategy in nearly everything when I was younger.

In our company, we have great rules around communication, such as asynchronous communication, which allows you to deal with almost every task or question at your own pace.

What is the favorite part about working for Neuron Labs?

One of the parts that are a lot of fun for me is the vision brainstorming part for some projects. I love the creativity that comes out of my colleagues and how I can be completely blown away by the point of view that I never thought about and that is creative and on point.

Putting on a creative hat is sometimes a rare occasion for tech professionals, and it makes it so much more valuable when it happens.

If given a chance, who would you like to be for a day?

I would love to be that TikTok guy who comes all dressed up like he is a valley to random stores and events. There is just something about sparking joy in people with a bit of a personal conversation.

I also would love to see where this day would end up being that guy. I guess it’s a mystery that lures me to this idea.

What did you want to be when growing up?

There was not much I thought I could be. Computer science, like a program developer, was always my top thing because I was good at math and physics. Outside of it, there was always music. However, I didn’t have a natural talent for music, and I'm happy I didn't pursue that career and was able to play in my free time.
