Time to meet the Flutter Developer at Cinnamon Agency, Samantha!

What are the challenges or misconceptions about your job?

I think there are many challenges that you face as a Flutter Developer, but being surrounded by a team that is always ready to help definitely makes those challenges seem less big. Being on my second project now I can see how far I’ve come and while I still face challenges, after solving something once, doing it the second time is much easier and takes much less time.

What do you like in your role?

I like that you can see how far you’ve come. You can quickly see your progress visually (after every few lines of code you can see a difference straight away on the screen), it’s one of the things I really like about Flutter.

What inspired you to pursue the career you have today?

While my dream job wasn’t programming (I actually wanted to be a vet for most of my life), the last few years at uni and working at IT firms has really made me realise how much I enjoy it. It’s really satisfying when you see the result of what you’ve made.

What are your hobbies?

I really enjoy running. I’ve ran a few half-marathons, hopefully I’ll be able to run a whole marathon at some point. I also really like baking.

What’s the best advice you can give to someone who just started their career?

Stick at it. The first few weeks of uni I almost switched courses, but after staying and sticking at it, I’m now really glad I gave it another chance, I wouldn’t be where I am today otherwise.

Your favourite quote?

I always liked the quote by Mark Twain: “Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn’t do than by the ones you did do.”
