Jorge went from developer to technical leader in a few months
Jorge Espinoza is one of the many collaborators who aren’t based in Uruguay but feel very close to. He is a software engineer from Perú, and he has demonstrated outstanding capabilities such as proactivity, leadership, and pragmatism from the very beginning.
What are some of the unique challenges you face in your role, and how do you overcome them?
As a tech leader, the first challenge is to estimate the tickets as accurately as possible to give the correct number to the client. This is an ongoing learning process that requires me to consider all the previous projects’ experiences.
Furthermore, defining the architecture and the code standards of the project is a must in this role. To do that, I usually read a daily digest to stay informed of the latest upgrades or improvements in the tech stack we are using.
Finally, the tech leader is responsible for the deliveries of the products. The only way to overcome this is to be organized, thinking out of the box, and at the same time helping the team to get the necessary knowledge to fulfill their tasks.
Why did you Join Capicua, and what has kept you here?
It was an excellent opportunity to start with modern technologies such as Node.JS and React.JS, which in my previous companies were barely used.
I started on one project as a developer, but I'm a tech leader in a couple of projects now. I love learning, and Capicua gave me that possibility with the courses in Udemy and the opportunity to lead teams and keep developing my skills.
At the same time, the company is growing up, and new projects are coming with high expectations of the future, which I eagerly enjoy analysing and building proposals for. Most of these new projects involve close teamwork with the co-founders of the company, Ismael and Carlos.
So, the work environment and the company’s increased responsibility in the company while considering all the previous projects’ experiences the possibility to learn and make decisions have kept me firmly attached to Capicua.

What is your most memorable moment at Capicua?
The first project in Capicua I worked on was marathon kids. One of the most memorable moments was when all the team, including Ismael and Carlos, stayed until 3 am approximately to complete delivery for the client, representing the commitment to our work.
How do you spend your time outside the office?
I usually go to the gym during the week with my younger brother because it helps me to release stress and, I can confirm this; it has happened to me that after the gym, I got better ideas on how to solve the issues we face daily.
On the other hand, I spend time with my girlfriend on the weekends. We usually watch tv shows, hang out with friends or eat delicious food together.
What are your top three life highlights?
