Time to meet the Software Engineer at APP IT, Eldar!

Why did you join APP IT, and what has kept you here?

I joined the company due to the fact that it allowed me to express my knowledge during a time when it was increasingly difficult to acquire a job as a junior software engineer. During said time period most employers sought experienced software developers. I am very grateful for the opportunity given to me by the company.

What has kept me here is the chance to learn and perfect my skills, as well as the overall atmosphere among colleagues.

Lost in Istanbul

Do you have any hobbies, go-to weekend activities, or long-term passion projects you’re working on?

When it comes to personal passions, I enjoy watching and playing football, as well as running. During the weekends, I try to spend as much time outside, preferably with family and friends, to cut down on time spent using technology.

One of my favorite weekend activities is going to watch my local football team Željezničar.

Before working at APP IT, what was the most unusual or interesting job you’ve ever had?

Before applying for a job at APP IT, during my student days, I worked as a tour guide in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The best part of that job was being able to witness the natural beauty of Bosnia, which I hadn't even imagined possible before, and also being able to present my country to tourists in the best way possible.

What advice do you have for prospective APP IT candidates?

For people just starting out in software engineering, I would recommend the following. Ask for feedback early, to prevent misunderstandings and having to repeat most of the work. Try to learn as much as possible, to make it easier to understand what you specialize in and to have a deeper understanding of the profession.

Besides all of that, what gets overlooked, but is equally as important is knowing when to take a break from technology and programming.

How do you define success in life?

Success is often defined as the ability to reach your goals in life, whatever those goals may be. In some ways, a better word for success might be attainment, accomplishment, or progress. It is not necessarily a destination but a journey that helps develop the skills and resources you need to thrive.

What is the best vacation you’ve been to?

The best traveling experience is also my best vacation. It was a visit to Istanbul, which also happened to be my first flight. I didn't spend the vacation alone, I was with my wife. What caught our eyes was the enchanting beauty of the city and the beautiful architecture.

The city also had amazing culture and traditions as well as delicious food.
