It’s hard to remember a day when his positive energy and charisma didn't brighten up someone’s day. He loves exploring new technologies, tools, and trends, and is genuinely in love with his business.

To really meet Edis, you have to meet him in person, but in the following spotlight, he will share candidly about himself to give you a taste.

Edis Banjić - Frontend developer

What’s your role at Ankora?

My general interest in IT and computer science in life led me to become a WordPress developer at Ankora. As time went on, my skills as a developer grew. I took every opportunity I had to learn from senior developers in the company and take in their advice.

I soon saw myself making the jump from working on simple WordPress themes, to developing custom themes on my own. As Ankora grew, we started seeing more complex projects come in, and I had something new to learn and work on very often.

Throughout the years, and many projects later, I feel happy having advanced to my current position as a frontend developer. I want to continue working in an environment like this and build my future career with a smile and joy with my dearest colleagues.

What do you think makes you most effective as a frontend developer?

I feel that my attention to detail helped me a lot in being an effective developer. I have a good eye for detail and this translates into paying a lot of attention to user experience when working on a new platform, or an app for a client.

Having worked with so many designers, I learned how to communicate well in a team environment and it’s amazing how much more effective everyone is when we understand each other.

My attention to detail also makes we want to write clean code, and always keep up with the latest best-practices in development. That’s another thing I think a developer should strive to do all the time – keeping up with the latest technology development in programming software.

What has been your favorite project at Ankora?

My absolute favorite project was one of the first things I worked on when I joined Ankora. It was a charity platform called „Giftlab“, that made donating things like school supplies extremely easy.

While the project was very simple in nature, the technicalities of coding that system proved much more complex than we thought. Certainly the meaning of this project, and the socially responsible purpose is something that made me even happier when making a project like this.

This proved to be a true challenge and I'm very proud that we were able to step up and own it. We ended up finding a lot of unique solutions while cooperating with the adaptation team.

Moments of laughter and jokes

What’s your next step, or a few goals you’d like to accomplish in life, or while with Ankora?

My next step is always striving to learn more and become better the next day. Both in life and at work. I love being part of development projects that influence people’s lives for the better. I’d like to see much more of those kinds of projects in the future.

My ultimate goal in life is staying true to my core values of being a decent human being, doing good for myself and my family, and helping others whenever possible.

Putting smiles on other people’s faces is an amazing feeling, and apart from staying healthy and doing good for myself, and for others.

I really see no other major goal in life. Naturally, there are always business ambitions that we all want to accomplish. But in general, I’d love to see Ankora develop a product that will truly change people’s lives for the better.

When are you the happiest?

There’s no better feeling than laying down in bed at the end of the day, fully knowing I’ve deserved to rest and sleep well, having done my best at work and in life that day.

Having a productive, effective day at work really makes me feel accomplished and gives me a purpose, especially when I work on projects that I know will make people’s lives easier.

Of course, when I have a good rest, I always take time off for my hobbies and interesting activities. I love to run and of course, like most developers to play games.

What's your motto or personal mantra?

Live and let live. I believe it's important to keep an open mind too. While I always make an effort to stay true to my core values and principles, I always strive to hear other perspectives as this helps me understand others better and do more good for the community.
