Time to meet the Development Lead at Amplitudo, Julija!
PDL and Solution Architect – two roles with common goals.
Project delivery lead (PDL) is a role that involves technical decisions related to some project or product - from the assessment of necessary resources, technology, and system setup methods to quality control of the project development. Briefly, PDL takes care of the project from idea to realization. The goal at Amplitudo is to develop our products, such as the Doxio system, Indigo, and others.
My task as a solution architect is to, in cooperation with other PDLs, design the architecture and setup of the system we implement, choose the technologies that will be used on the project, and make other technical decisions related to the project.
In addition, the organization of workshops actively held by the Delivery sector, the selection of topics, and the introduction of new tools and technologies are also part of my work.

The working day starts with setting priorities.
Multitasking is always a challenge, and I believe we all have days when we are more or less focused than usual. Indeed, the goal is to set work priorities - to know precisely how much time we have for each task and what needs to be solved immediately. I try to do more complex tasks first thing in the morning, while I leave other, smaller, or easier tasks for later.
Besides, I always write everything down, and I keep lists of tasks and notes for myself and my colleagues, and in this way, I distribute the tasks on the project, depending on the available time and the urgency of the task.
Honesty, responsibility, and selflessness are the principles that I do not deviate from in my work and expect from my colleagues in the team. Team spirit is something that adorns the Delivery sector, and good results could not be achieved without it. We were all beginners in the business at some point, so without the selfless help of other colleagues, we would not have progressed fast enough and been successful in what we do.

I think the most significant difference and the sphere in which I made progress is the trust I have in my colleagues and associates, i.e., the realization that you don't always have to do everything on your own.
On the other hand, open communication with your dev lead or superior is the key to employee satisfaction in the company.
Of course, there is always room for progress and improving skills such as negotiation - especially regarding clients.

A solution architect is a new role for me that requires a lot of effort, investment, and learning, so the plan for the next couple of years is filled. After that, who knows, maybe through Enterprise Architect, I will reach the CTO position.
None of us can plan our future; we can only believe in ourselves and strive toward our goals.

Our greatest advantage is our people.
Amplitudo is a company that has a good organizational structure, thanks to which it functions well even in these extraordinary times. The most significant advantage is always the people, great colleagues, and superiors who always find understanding, are genuinely interested in employees' satisfaction and are oriented towards solving problems instead of looking for someone to blame, which makes the difference between a leader and a boss.
Of course, there are challenges. The pandemic situation is one such challenge for us. The assessment and planning processes should be worked on the most. Most problems arise due to insufficiently precise requirements, estimates, and conflicts between agile methodology and time frames.
Of course, these are all challenges of the modern era, in which the focus on clients is greater than ever, and it is the most difficult to find a balance between their satisfaction and the financial profitability of the business.
Women in Montenegrin IT community.
From my previous experience, I notice very few women in the IT community in Montenegro. Fortunately, that situation is changing for the better from day to day. Proof of this is the Delivery sector of Amplitudo, in which female members are equally numerous and have essential roles within the sector.
Unfortunately, there are stereotypes and prejudices in the IT community, as in all other spheres. I responsibly claim that Amplitudo is one of the rare exceptions to the bad practice that women are paid less for the same job, that whether a woman is married and planning children plays a relevant role in hiring and promotion, as well as that they have less chance of achieving leading positions in the company, regardless of their qualifications.
These stereotypes affect all professions, and it is up to us to fight against it by setting personal examples and empowering women in general.
